Leonardo Barbini

Leonardo Barbini is a Research Fellow at TNO since October 2017, focusing on projects with high-tech companies like ASML and Thales, specializing in machine failure diagnostics, condition-based monitoring, and root cause analysis of performance issues. Prior to this role, Leonardo completed a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath, where research centered on condition monitoring techniques using cyclo-non-stationary signals, digital signal processing techniques, gearbox fault detection, and predictive maintenance of rotating machinery. An internship at Flanders Make involved experimental campaigns on gearbox setups and data analysis with various sensors, while earlier work at the Osservatorio Astronomico di Roma-INAF included testing materials and conducting data collection and analysis. Educational background includes a Laurea Magistrale and Laurea triennale in theoretical and mathematical physics from Sapienza Università di Roma.
