Mathijs Kuiper is currently the Board Secretary of the Geological Survey of the Netherlands, a role they hold since 2024. Previously, Mathijs served as a Mining-permit Coordinator at the Ministry of Climate Policy and Green Growth from 2017 to 2024, where they supervised licensing processes for underground mining permits. Mathijs also completed an internship at Energie Beheer Nederland in 2016, developing a Geo Drilling Event database to enhance geological risk analysis during drilling activities. Mathijs earned a Master of Science in Earth, Structures and Dynamics from Universiteit Utrecht in 2017.
