Sam van Goethem

Head Of Department Air Quality & Emissions Research at TNO

Sam van Goethem has a diverse range of work experience in the field of air quality, emissions research, and sustainable transport. They have held various roles at TNO, including Head of Department Air Quality & Emissions Research, Deputy Research Manager, Senior Project Manager, Team Lead of the Sustainable Transport team, Project Manager, and Technical Consultant. In these positions, Sam has managed and consulted on research projects related to global warming, pollution from the transport sector, and emissions of light and heavy-duty vehicles. They have also been responsible for resource planning, project allocation, and day-to-day operations of teams, as well as supporting department managers with performance input, recruiting, and financial reporting. Prior to TNO, Sam completed a final thesis at FEV Motorentechnik GmbH and served as the Technical Manager at HTS Racing Team.

Sam van Goethem completed a Bachelor's degree in Automotive Testing from Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen (HAN) from 2005 to 2009. In 2017, they enrolled at Ghent University to pursue a Master's degree in Business/Managerial Economics, and they are currently still studying in that program.
