R. Trigg McClellan, M.D., earned both a bachelor's degree in physics and a medical degree from Vanderbilt University. After completing a general surgery residency at Vanderbilt, they pursued an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Michigan and advanced fellowship training in orthopaedic traumatology at San Francisco General Hospital and UCSF. They also completed a spine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. Currently, McClellan serves as an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in trauma and spine surgery at Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance and has held the position of Professor Emeritus of Orthopaedic Surgery at UCSF from 2004 to 2022. Additionally, they are involved in numerous professional organizations and hold multiple patents related to orthopaedic implants.
