Alvan Tan

Alvan Tan is an accomplished IT professional with significant expertise in R&D and software development. Currently serving as Associate Director in R&D IT at Merck since December 2016, Alvan specializes in designing and developing Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing solutions, web applications, APIs with modern cloud technologies, and hyper-automation solutions to enhance workflows. Previously, Alvan held the position of Senior Engineer and Technical Lead in the Global Technology Organization at Merck, overseeing the development team and managing the full software development life cycle using Agile methodologies. Alvan's experience also includes contributing to the development of Berlitz Corporation's online training platform as a software developer, serving as an intermediate programmer/analyst at KUBRA, and working as a research assistant at the University of Utah. Alvan holds a Master's degree in Computing-Information Technology from the University of Utah.
