Dave Messinger

Dave Messinger has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Dave is currently the CTO and Co-Founder of Torc, where they utilize AI and automation to match freelance developers with companies that need them. In addition, they focus on using data to understand and measure developer productivity. Prior to Torc, Dave worked as a Special Advisor at Communo from April 2020 to December 2022.

As an Independent Consultant, Dave has been a strategic technology leader for the past 20 years, with a focus on the evolving nature of work. Dave has extensive experience with platforms supporting the digital gig economy. Dave's previous roles also include serving as the CTO and VP of Product at Topcoder from December 2016 to September 2021, and as the Chief Community Officer from January 2014 to December 2016.

At Appirio, Dave held multiple roles including VP of Product Architecture from January 2015 to December 2016, Vice President - Community from October 2009 to January 2015, and Head of Community from February 2011 to January 2014. Dave also served as the Chief Architect at TopCoder from January 2003 to October 2009.

Dave started their career at Amentra as a Project Manager, where they led the creation of an FDA-regulated Hybrid Electronic Lab Notebook for Merck Pharmaceuticals. Dave also taught technology classes in various areas. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Consultant at Tallan, where they served as lead developer, architect, and project manager on various projects for companies like Priceline.com and an energy trading company.

Dave Messinger holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, which they obtained from Trinity College-Hartford between 1994 and 1998. In addition to their formal education, Dave has also completed several certifications, including Data Visualization with Python, Deep Learning, Sequence Models, Convolutional Neural Networks, Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization, and Optimization, Neural Networks and Deep Learning, Structuring Machine Learning Projects, and Topcoder Client Architect Cert. These certifications were obtained from various institutions such as Coursera and Topcoder, with completion dates ranging from 2017 to 2018.
