Jenna Lam has a diverse work experience in the field of biology and data analysis. Jenna started their career as a Summer Intern at Micropathology Ltd in 2016, where they gained practical experience in the laboratory. Jenna then worked on their 3rd year dissertation lab project at the University of Leicester, focusing on characterizing phage CDHM1 and its impact on C. difficile strains.
In 2013, Jenna undertook an Erasmus lab project at Universidade do Algarve, where they tested essential oils for their antimicrobial activity on fruit. Jenna also completed a Summer Internship at the University of Leicester, examining the interaction between C. difficile infection and phage-induced sporulation.
From 2016 to 2019, Jenna pursued their PhD project at the University of Warwick, funded by the BBSRC. During their project, they developed expertise in DNA/RNA extraction and quantification, library preparation, and bioinformatics analysis. Jenna also supervised undergraduate interns, demonstrated in lab practicals, and organized journal clubs.
After completing their PhD, Jenna worked as a Data Scientist and Bioscience Lead at the UK Lighthouse Lab Network in 2020. In this role, they supported and coordinated swab samples for scientists, operated liquid handling machines, and assisted with sample processing for COVID-19 testing.
In 2021, Jenna joined Source BioScience as a Senior DNA Scientist, specializing in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). Jenna worked on NGS techniques and contributed to research projects until 2023.
Currently, Jenna holds the position of NGS Scientist at Touchlight. Jenna'sexact role responsibilities and accomplishments in this position are currently unknown.
Jenna Lam has a strong education background in microbiology. Jenna attended Tendring Technology College from 2004 to 2009, but no specific degree or field of study was mentioned for this period. From 2009 to 2011, they studied A-levels at Colchester County High for Girls.
In 2011, Jenna enrolled at the University of Leicester and pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Medical Microbiology with a Year Abroad. Jenna completed this degree in 2015.
Jenna continued their education at the University of Warwick, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Molecular Microbiology from 2015 to 2019.
In addition to their academic qualifications, Jenna holds certifications from various institutions. In 2017, they became a member of the Microbiology Society. Jenna has also achieved various music certifications, including Grade 5 Music Theory, Grade 5 Violin, and Grade 6 Piano from ABRSM. Jenna also obtained the Leicester Award Experience Employability from the University of Leicester and completed the module "Maths and Computational Skills for Bioscience (module 1)" offered by SysMIC.ac.uk.
