Safiya Morrison has a diverse range of work experience in the field of cell and gene therapy manufacturing. Safiya started their career at MD Anderson Cancer Center as an Analytical Laboratory Intern, where they gained international experience and performed various tests on patient samples.

From there, Safiya moved on to King's College London, where they held two positions. As a Cell Gene Therapy Production Assistant Scientist, they worked on batch manufacturing of ATMPs and gained experience in GMP and GCP regulations. Safiya then advanced to the role of Cell Gene Therapy Production Scientist, where they led manufacturing campaigns, prepared equipment and raw materials, and maintained GMP facilities.

Safiya's next position was at Orchard Therapeutics, where they served as a Viral Vector MSAT Scientist. In this role, they scaled up and transferred manufacturing processes, collaborated with CDMOs for outsourcing vector and plasmid GMP manufacture, and provided expert review of BMRs, SOPs, and process descriptions.

Currently, Safiya is working at Touchlight as an MSAT Scientist. Their responsibilities include developing and scaling dbDNA manufacturing technology for cell and gene therapy products, supporting quality investigations and change controls, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
