Michael LoPresti has a diverse work experience. In 2000, they were the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration at Adler Planetarium. In 2009, they were the Founder of TouchPoints, a data technology company, and the Managing Partner of MMCL Group LLC, a venture group specializing in biotech, enterprise software, search, security, and dispersed data storage. In 2011, they became the BSA National Foundation Chair of STEM Strategy/Innovation, where they created iTech Exploring, an innovation/entrepreneur workforce development ecosystem. In 2012, they founded the National Foundation Innovation Fund.

Michael LoPresti began their educational career in 1973 when they attended Wilkes University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA). Michael then moved on to The George Washington University, where they earned a Master of Public Administration in 1979. Michael then attended Virginia Tech, where they enrolled in a PhD Program in Public Administration, although they did not complete the program. In 1999, they obtained a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) certification.
