Melissa MacMaster's work experience begins with their role as the Director of Music Licensing & Clearance at trac since March 2023. In this role, they are responsible for creating and implementing the music licensing and clearance strategy for trac, as well as serving as the main point of contact for all music licensing and clearance matters.
Prior to this, Melissa worked at UnitedMasters from September 2020 to March 2023. Melissa held two roles during their time there, starting as a Creative Sync Licensing Manager and later becoming the Manager of Music Licensing and Clearance. In these positions, they pitched UnitedMasters' artist roster to potential clients and partners for various music licensing opportunities across different media platforms.
Before their time at UnitedMasters, Melissa founded 902HipHop Inc. in April 2016 and held the position until September 2020. In this role, they contributed to the development of the music business culture and community on a global scale.
From October 2011 to October 2015, Melissa was the Co-Founder and Partnership and Development Officer at the Global Youth Innovation Network (GYIN). Melissa played a key role in establishing an effective networking platform for youth entrepreneurs and advocating for rural youth entrepreneurship and employment.
Melissa also worked as an Education and Small Business Consultant at the CEED-Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development from October 2012 to October 2014. In this role, they helped build entrepreneurship awareness and capacity throughout Atlantic Canada.
Melissa's work experience also includes roles such as Entrepreneurship Coordinator at St. Francis Xavier University from December 2009 to May 2012 and Retail and Customer Marketing at NB Power from January 2007 to September 2009, where they focused on sponsorship packages, promotional displays, and customer service programs.
In addition, they served as the Shinerama Coordinator at the University of New Brunswick from April 2008 to April 2009, leading fundraising efforts and raising awareness for Shinerama and Cystic Fibrosis.

Melissa MacMaster completed their education in a chronological order. In 1999 to 2003, they attended Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional where they earned a Bilingual Certificate with a focus on French Studies. From 2005 to 2009, Melissa pursued their Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Marketing and Human Resources at the University of New Brunswick. In 2010, they obtained a Rural Leadership Certificate from St. Francis Xavier University, emphasizing Organizational Leadership. In 2011, Melissa attended Acadia University and received an APEC Small Business Counsellor Certificate, focusing on Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies. In 2012, they completed a program at Stanford University, becoming a Certified Business Model Canvas Trainer in the field of Entrepreneurial and Small Business Operations. Most recently, in 2021, Melissa enrolled at Berklee College of Music to pursue a degree in Copyright Law.
