Luis Rivas has a diverse work experience that spans over several decades. Luis began their career in 1994 in the US Army, where they served in various roles such as Senior Personnel Manager, Senior Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Program Manager, and Training Administrator. During their time in the army, they gained expertise in supervising, training, and evaluating personnel, managing budgets and funds, and overseeing maintenance plans for tactical vehicles and equipment.

Luis holds other certifications as well, including the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and a Commercial Driver (Truck) Class A license from the California Department of Motor Vehicles, obtained in 2019.
