Stephen Orem has had a diverse range of work experiences throughout their career. Stephen started their career in 1995 as an Industrial Engineer at Delphi and then worked at Thomson Consumer Electronics as an Industrial Engineer and Lean Manufacturing Engineer. At Hexagon Transportation Consultants, Inc., they served as an Engineer II.

In 2012, Stephen joined Aryaka Networks as a Web Application Developer, where they gained experience in full-stack development of the UI for an internal engineering web portal. Stephen utilized skills in MySQL, Java, Groovy, Grails, Spring, Hibernate, XML schema, JavaScript, and agile development.

Stephen then moved to Ellucian in 2015, working as a Software Quality Engineer and Support Analyst. Stephen became proficient in writing automated integration tests, conducting release testing, and performing white-box and black-box testing. Stephen also supported beta clients for a cloud-based LMS and spearheaded a support integration UI component.

After Ellucian, Stephen joined ISWC as a Web Developer in 2010, where they led the development of a WordPress site for westernciv.com. Stephen developed plugins and customized themes for the website.

Currently, Stephen works as a Senior Front End Developer at Traction. Stephen is embedded with a small team at the world's largest consumer electronics company, focusing on the front-end development of a large, consumer-facing web application. Stephen creates complex and interactive pixel-perfect components using React, Redux, TypeScript, JavaScript, SASS, and Webpack.

Stephen Orem began their education at Purdue University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1988. Stephen then pursued further education at Cleveland State University, completing a Master of Science (MS) degree in Industrial Engineering from 1995 to 1996. In 2000, they enrolled at The Ohio State University for continuing education in an unspecified field of study until 2002. Later on, in 2010 to 2012, Stephen attended Foothill College to study programming. Concurrently, they also studied Database Design for Developers at De Anza College from 2011 to 2012. Additionally, it is known that Stephen studied Digital Media and GIS at West Valley College, although the exact dates are unavailable.
