Iman Sylvain

Iman Sylvain, PhD, is a research scientist and policy analyst dedicated to promoting environmental justice and health equity. Currently serving as the Western Regional Director at Rails to Trails Conservancy since 2024, Iman has previously held roles such as Legislative Assistant for the City of Berkeley and Project Policy Analyst III at the Innovative Genomics Institute. With a strong background in ecology, microbiology, and grassroots organizing, Iman has a rich educational foundation that includes a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, alongside a Master’s from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor’s from Howard University. Iman's work focuses on empowering marginalized communities through science and advocacy.
