Simon Ward

Simon Ward is a machine learning engineer and research scientist with a PhD, focused on designing and deploying intelligent systems utilizing large multimodal models, including retrieval-augmented generation pipelines and custom fine-tuning. They have held positions at various organizations, including Crowcon Detection Instruments Ltd., where they developed innovative firmware, and Vanderbilt University, where they mentored students and conducted significant research on AI applications in healthcare. Simon has also contributed to a stealth startup by building a generative AI-powered chatbot to enhance competitive advantages. They hold a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Physics from Durham University and a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Vanderbilt University.
