Melissa Harris is an accomplished education leader with extensive experience in driving strategic initiatives and partnerships within K-12 education. Currently serving as a Senior Fellow at Transcend, Melissa focuses on advancing organizational goals through relationship cultivation and leadership facilitation. Previously, as Deputy Superintendent for the DeKalb County School District, Melissa directed strategic planning and secured significant funding for innovative educational models. At the NYC Department of Education, roles included Chief of Staff, where Melissa led critical policy efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Chief Executive for the Office of School Design, managing the largest district-charter partnership in the nation. Currently pursuing a Doctor of Education degree in Adult Learning and Organization Development at The University of Georgia, Melissa holds a BA in US History with a minor in Urban Education from the University at Albany.
