Xichen Zhang

Xichen Zhang has extensive work experience spanning over three decades. Currently, Xichen holds the position of SVP Manufacturing at Transcenta, a role that began in March 2021. Prior to this, Xichen had a long tenure at Amgen, starting in 2003 and concluding in March 2021 as Product Quality Director. At Amgen, Xichen led global Product Quality Teams and was responsible for driving product quality strategies and resolving key issues. Before joining Amgen, Xichen held the role of Scientist III/Principal Scientist at Amgen, where they led a drug product team and played a pivotal role in developing commercial manufacturing processes.

Before Amgen, Xichen worked at Mannkind as a Manager from 2000 to 2003. During their time there, Xichen built the Formulation department and led CMC developments of allergy vaccines. Prior to that, Xichen served as a Sr. Scientist at SuperGen, where they successfully stabilized intravenous formulations and worked on solubilization projects for parenteral formulation.

Xichen's earlier work experience includes a role as a Sr. Scientist at Zeneca, where they played a key role in developing controlled-release formulations through spray drying. Xichen also had a fruitful tenure as a Scientist at Angiotech/Microtech, during which they conducted research on various formulations, including micellar paclitaxel formulations and controlled-release formulations for vaccines and antibiotics.

Xichen began their professional journey as an Assistant Lecturer at Tianjin University, where they conducted research in water purification, co-lectured in Industrial Chemistry, and supervised thesis research.

Overall, Xichen Zhang has a wealth of experience in manufacturing, product quality, formulation development, and research spanning various industries, showcasing their expertise and contributions over the years.

Xichen Zhang completed their Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Polymer at Tianjin University from 1981 to 1988. Following that, they pursued a PhD in Chemical Engineering at Queen's University, which they completed from 1990 to 1993.
