Fiona Orton

Fiona Orton is a seasoned professional in the energy sector, currently serving as the General Manager of Innovation and Energy Transition at Transgrid since January 2018. In this role, Fiona leads initiatives to prepare Transgrid for the transition to a renewable energy system and is focused on developing transmission capabilities for up to 100% instantaneous renewable supply by 2025. Prior to this, Fiona held various positions at Transgrid, including Head of Future Energy and Future Grid Manager, where responsibilities included strategic planning and scenario development for the NSW electricity system. Fiona's extensive experience also includes a tenure at AGL Energy, where roles ranged from Manager of Scenario Planning and Strategy to Manager of Greenhouse and Energy Reporting. Fiona began a career at GHD as a Climate Change and Sustainability Consultant. Fiona holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Sydney and a Diploma of Management from the Australian Institute of Management.
