Carl Gabriel

Carl Gabriel, Pr. Eng, has been with Transnet since 1998, beginning as a Mechanical Engineer part of the Terminal development team at the Port of Richards Bay. Promoted to Senior Mechanical Engineer in 2000 and Engineering Manager in 2002, they have held the position of Executive Manager since 2008, overseeing the Dredging Services business unit. Carl has significantly contributed to improving operational efficiency, reducing maintenance dredging costs by R90 million annually, and establishing a business model that aids neighboring African ports. They possess extensive experience in engineering, project management, and maritime operations, and have been involved in multi-million rand projects with both local and international contractors. Carl holds multiple degrees, including an MBA and a Master’s in Business Management, and continues as Projects Director at Transnet SOC Ltd.
