Peter Eigen

Peter Eigen is an accomplished legal expert and development professional with extensive experience in governance and anti-corruption initiatives. As Co-Chairman of Climate Transparency since 2016 and a member of the Deutsche Ärzte für die Dritte Welt, Eigen has actively contributed to social and environmental causes. Eigen founded Transparency International in 1993 and served as Chair until 2005, continuing as Chair of the Advisory Council until 2018. With a background in development from the World Bank, where Eigen was a manager and Director in Eastern Africa, Eigen also played a significant role in various organizations, including the Africa Progress Panel and the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative. Education includes degrees from Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, the Freie Universität Berlin, and Harvard University.
