Ian Ray

Geospatial Services: Lead UAS Pilot at TranSystems

Ian Ray has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Ian began their career in 2001 as a Ski Instructor and Terrain Park Designer at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort. From 2006 to 2007, they worked as a Network Admin and IT Manager at Millbrook Custom Kitchens, where they managed a private network and developed 3D cabinet sales catalogs.

In 2007, Ian joined the Rochester Institute of Technology as a Photo Cage Technician, a role they held until 2009. Ian then worked as an Apple Certified Macintosh Technician at Small Dog Electronics from 2009 to 2010. Additionally, from 2010 to 2014, they worked at LPA Design, where they coordinated product development and provided technical support at photography events.

Ian's experience with drones and UAS technology began in 2014 when they joined ARE Corporation as the Director of UAS Technology. In this role, they were responsible for integrating drone systems, technical imaging, and co-founded AirShark. Ian continued in this role until 2022, when they joined TranSystems as the Lead UAS Pilot for Geospatial Services.

Overall, Ian Ray has a strong background in UAS technology, product development, IT management, and outdoor recreation.

Ian Ray attended the Rochester Institute of Technology from 2007 to 2009, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree in Professional Photographic Illustration: Visual Media.
