Steven Hammerschmidt has work experience as a Civil Structural Engineer at TranSystems since November 2011. In this role, they specialize in the analysis, rehabilitation, complex inspection, and design of various types of structures, including bridges. Steven has extensive experience with in-depth inspections of different sizes and structure types, such as steel girder, fracture critical structures, tub girders, cable stay, suspension, truss bridges, and moveable bridges. Steven is also skilled in designing bridge structure repairs and rehabilitation and performing complex three-dimensional finite element modeling for new and rehabilitation purposes.

Prior to their role at TranSystems, Steven worked as a Civil Engineering Intern at GBA (George Butler Associates) from May 2007 to August 2007.

Steven Hammerschmidt holds a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering from Kansas State University. Steven completed their master's degree program from 2009 to 2011. Prior to that, Steven earned a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the same university, which they pursued from 2004 to 2008. Alongside their educational journey, they have also obtained two additional certifications. One is the SPRAT Level III certification, obtained from SPRAT in January 2020, while the other is being a Professional Engineer, though the institution and specific timing of acquiring this certification are not provided.
