Lily Shen

Lily Shen is the founder and CEO of Trash Warrior, a social enterprise that aims to end plastic pollution in our oceans. Lily has always been passionate about environmentalism and protecting our planet.

Before starting Trash Warrior, Lily worked as a product manager at Niantic, Inc., where they led the data science and machine learning team. Lily also worked as the China Initiative Lead at Opendoor, where they were responsible for attracting retail buyers and partnering with Chinese businesses.

Lily began their career as a senior consultant at Deloitte, where they helped clients in the e-commerce and international development sectors. Lily also worked on a project to develop a food security toolkit for USAID’s Feed the Future agricultural aid program.

In 2015, Lily was an entrepreneur in residence at IDG Capital Partners. This experience inspired their to start their own company, Trash Warrior, which they launched in 2017.

Under Lily’s leadership, Trash Warrior has made great strides in combatting plastic pollution. The company has partnered with major corporations such as Coca-Cola and PepsiCo to help them reduce their plastic footprint. Lily is also working on legislation to ban single-use plastics in California.

Lily’s work has been recognized by various publications, including Forbes, which named their one of “5 Young Environmentalists Who Are Changing the World.”

Lily Shen graduated with a BE in Operations Research & Financial Engineering from Princeton University. Lily then went on to earn their MPA in Development Economics and International Development from Harvard Kennedy School.
