John Barton

John Barton currently serves as an Appraisal Review Board Member for Travis County since 2022. Previously, John was a Resident Budget Advisor for the U.S. Department of the Treasury from 2014 to 2018 and an International Mentor with the United Nations Fellowship for Afghanistan from 2010 to 2018. John has extensive experience in public service, having worked as a Communications Officer for the Texas Legislative Budget Board for three decades from 1984 to 2014, and as a Council Member for the City of Rollingwood, Texas, from 2005 to 2009. In academia, John was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas at Austin from 1999 to 2009. John's education includes a Master of Science from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado Boulder, along with participation in various leadership and outdoor programs.
