Roman Shtykh

Roman Shtykh has extensive work experience in the field of software engineering and research. Roman is currently working as a Principal Software Engineer at Treasure Data since October 2020. Prior to this, they held roles such as a Lecturer, Visiting Researcher, and Research Associate at Waseda University, where they conducted research on personalization of Web search and taught introductory courses. Roman was a Staff Software Engineer at Arm from August 2019 to October 2020 and a Big Data Architect at Yahoo! JAPAN from May 2017 to August 2019. Roman also worked as a Senior R&D Engineer at CyberAgent, Inc. from May 2012 to April 2017. Roman has experience in designing and developing scalable distributed solutions for e-commerce systems. Roman worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Rakuten from April 2009 to April 2012, where they worked on Big Data processing and developed various web services. Roman started their career as a Software Engineer / R&D at Access from April 2003 to March 2006, where they were involved in porting web browser core and implementing new functionalities.

Roman Shtykh earned a PhD in Human Sciences (Informatics) from Waseda University, where they studied from 2006 to 2009. Prior to that, they obtained an MSc in Computer Science and Engineering from The University of Aizu, where they studied from 2001 to 2003.
