Tanaka Malaba

Tanaka Malaba has extensive experience in engineering and technology leadership, with a strong focus on infrastructure, cloud strategy, and product development. At Tree, Tanaka served as Head of Infrastructure & Platforms, managing IT operations, data engineering, and critical platforms while implementing disaster recovery strategies. Previously, as Head of Engineering, Tanaka played a key role in launching Saudi Arabia's first digital insurer and developed first-to-market telematics capabilities. At Bi-me, Tanaka led the creation of Africa's first fully online business insurance platform, significantly reducing cloud expenses and ensuring regulatory compliance. Additional experience includes serving as Technical Lead at Nedbank, where Tanaka oversaw scalable full-stack development, and as a Software Engineer at IQbusiness, enhancing online trading operations. Tanaka holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting Sciences from the University of the Witwatersrand and completed a degree in Computer Software Engineering at WeThinkCode.
