Ali Tarokh is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in advocacy, operations, and community leadership focused on immigrant integration and refugee support. Currently serving as a member of the New Americans Advisory Council and an Associate Delegate for Refugee Congress, Ali engages in policy discussions to elevate the voices of vulnerable migrants. As Co-Founder and Co-Host of the Rstories Podcast, Ali highlights narratives from refugee communities while holding the position of Director of Policy & Advocacy at Trellus. Previous roles include Director of Operations and Facilities at Asian Human Services and Director of Operations at PASSAGES CHARTER SCHOOL-AHS, demonstrating a strong background in operational management. With a commitment to improving conditions for refugees and a solid educational foundation that includes a Doctorate in Law and Policy from Northeastern University, Ali Tarokh actively contributes to the advocacy landscape for immigrant communities.

Trellus is a nonprofit that exists to empower immigrants, refugees, and underserved communities in Chicago to thrive by removing barriers and providing supports that create opportunities for life. Headquartered in West Ridge—one of Chicago’s major refugee settlement neighborhoods—we serve individuals and families representing more than 50 nations and ethnicities. Our culturally responsive, comprehensive services include trauma-informed behavioral health counseling, case management, health education, ESL and technology classes, career training and job placement, and other supportive services. We also operate Passages Charter School, a pre-K to 8 charter school in the Andersonville neighborhood keenly focused on the needs and experience of refugee families.
