Patrick Honohan

Honorary Professor Of Economics

Patrick Honohan is an esteemed economist with a diverse array of experiences in academia and international financial institutions. Currently serving as a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics since March 2016 and an Honorary Professor of Economics at Trinity College Dublin since 2010, Honohan previously held the titles of Professor of International Financial Economics and Development, and Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland from September 2009 to November 2015. A significant tenure at The World Bank from 1998 to 2007 included roles as Lead Economist and Senior Adviser. Honohan has also contributed as a Research Professor at the Economic and Social Research Institute and as an Economic Adviser to the Taoiseach in Ireland. Honohan's academic background includes an MSc and PhD in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics from The London School of Economics and a BA and MA in Economics and Mathematics from University College Dublin.
