Sindri Traustason

Sindri Traustason has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Sindri started their career as a Geophysics Surveyor at Orkustofnun in 1998. Sindri then moved on to work as a Software Engineer at Vyre in 2000. In 2002, Sindri joined Kemía as a Software Engineer and Technical Salesperson, where they developed data management and visualization systems for geothermal power plants and pollution measurements in Reykjavik city.

In 2004, Sindri returned to Vyre as a Senior Software Engineer, focusing on developing scalable content management solutions using Java, Spring, Lucene, Hibernate, and other industry-standard methods. Sindri held this role until 2012.

In 2013, Sindri joined North Plains Systems as a Senior Software Engineer, following the acquisition and merger of Vyre. Here, they continued to develop scalable content management solutions using Java, Spring, Lucene, Hibernate, and more. Sindri stayed with the company until 2014.

In 2014, Sindri joined Bókun as an Associate Director of Software Engineering, a position they held until March 2021 when they became the Director of Engineering. As part of their role, Sindri worked on building software solutions for the tourism industry.

In 2018, Sindri joined TripAdvisor through the acquisition of Bókun. Sindri assumed the role of Director of Software Engineering and focused on developing software solutions for the tourism industry.

Throughout their career, Sindri has demonstrated expertise in software engineering, developing scalable solutions, and using industry-standard methods and technologies. Additionally, they have experience in technical sales and data management and visualization systems.

Sindri Traustason received their secondary education from Menntaskólinn við Sund between 1992 and 1996. Sindri obtained a Stúdentspróf degree with a field of study in Eðlisfræðideild. Following that, they attended Háskóli Íslands from 1996 to 2003. During this time, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree, specializing in Computer Science and Physics.
