John Wu has a long and impressive work history. John began their career in 1996 as a Developer at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, where they designed and implemented an internet telephony application using GSM audio encoding and developed new audio tools, including real-time web-enabled audio soundscapes for artists like Herbie Hancock. In 2009, they became the Founder and CEO of Travelmath, a site used to plan trips, calculate travel times and frequent flyer miles, and budget for road trips. This site was popular among celebrities like Drew Barrymore and Blake Griffin. In 2016, they became the CEO of Trippy.com, a social travel platform backed by Sequoia Capital and advised by Tim Ferriss, Anthony Bourdain, and Jason Mraz.
John Wu attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1996 to 2001, where they obtained a PhD in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. Prior to that, they attended the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy.
