Curt Hartung

Principal Programmer / Architect at Tripwire Interactive

Curt Hartung has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of programming and game development. In 1999, they founded Kennesaw Mountain Markers and served as the lead engineer, creating and designing innovative paintball marker control boards. From 2000 to 2005, they worked at Highwinds Software as the lead programmer, where they revolutionized Usenet distribution with their Tornado architecture. At Sony Online Entertainment from 2005 to 2008, they held the position of EverQuest: Senior Programmer. From 2008 to 2009, they worked at Acclaim Games Inc as the lead programmer, designing the company's casual gaming backend system. Curt then joined Hi-Rez Studios as a senior programmer from 2009 to 2010.

In 2010, Curt Hartung became the lead programmer and architect at CCP, specializing in systems architecture and networking. Curt also created a multi-threaded networking layer for EVE, addressing scaling issues. From 2013 to 2015, they worked at Four-Lights as the lead programmer and architect, being responsible for networking infrastructure, unity game development, and Steam integration. In 2015, they founded Hartung Games.

Curt joined Tripwire Interactive LLC in 2015 as the lead programmer and architect where they managed a team, worked on virtual reality and game programming, and developed tools and systems for content designers. In 2019, they briefly worked at Callisto where they created the Callisto Programming Language. Overall, Curt Hartung's work experience showcases their expertise in programming, architecture, and game development across multiple companies and projects.

Curt Hartung pursued their educational journey by first attending the Florida Institute of Technology from 1991 to 1996. During this time, they studied Mechanical Engineering and successfully earned their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. Building upon their undergraduate education, Curt then enrolled at The University of Alabama in Huntsville from 1997 to 2000. Curt focused on Computer Engineering and completed their Master of Science (MS Work) degree.
