Marie-Christine Williams is a survivor of the Rwandan genocide, an author, and a keynote speaker.  She has captivated audiences for the last 9 years with her story of survival, perseverance, and the power of the human spirit.  She uses her story as a testimonial of what is possible when you bring God into your life.  That no matter what your struggles are if accept it you will have a meaningful life.

Very briefly, she was abandoned when she was only 3 months old, abused by her father from age 7 to 14, and then ran from death squads for 100 days during the 1994 Rwandan Massacre.  After the genocide she spent the next 4 years physically recovering, and many more years mentally recovering.  Through her belief in God, Marie-Christine endured everything imaginable…and things unimaginable. 

The power of her story comes from the realization that she’s been there.  Very few audience members can hear her story and quietly dismiss it as “but she doesn’t understand”.  She’s gone through more than what most people can fathom.  She has walked through darkness like few will ever experience, but with God by her side she survived and made it to the light.  Her story is not one of tragedy it’s one of triumph, it’s not a story of being a victim, but one of victory.  

As you can imagine, her experiences and biracial lineage has given her a unique perspective on diversity, inclusion, belonging, acceptance of others and ourselves, and overcoming the struggles that life throws at us from time to time.
