Karla (Richardson) Jakeman is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in transport innovation and martial arts. Currently serving as the Director of Grant Funding and Head of Automated Transport at TRL, Karla has also held positions as Employee Director at the Transport Research Foundation and Connected Transport Innovation Lead at Innovate UK. Previous experience includes Project Engineer at Honda R&D Europe and roles within Aspire 2020 Martial Arts as an Assistant Instructor and Black Belt in Taekwondo. Karla holds a BA Hons in Japanese Studies from The University of Sheffield, completed in 1997.
