Nick Ellis has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Nick started their career as a Cadet Chemical Engineer at BHP in 1988 and worked there until 1994. Nick then joined Tronox as a Process Engineer from 1994 to 1999, and later served as their Production Superintendent from 1999 to 2002. Nick briefly worked at Port Kembla Copper as an Acid Plant Superintendent in 2002. Nick returned to Tronox in 2003 as an Improvement Facilitator until 2004, and then became the Production Superintendent - Area 1 from 2004 to 2005. Nick then joined BHP Billiton as a Process Plant Superintendent from 2005 to 2007. In 2007, they re-joined Tronox as a Manager Production until 2010. Nick then held various positions including Projects & Process Control Supt from 2010 to 2011 and Technical Engineering Manager from 2011 to 2019. Nick was also the Director of Technology & Improvement from 2019 to 2022, before becoming the Director of Strategy & Business Intelligence from 2022 to 2023. Currently, they hold the position of Director, Rare Earth Technology at Tronox.
Nick Ellis completed a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Newcastle from 1988 to 1994. In 2016, they attended the Mt Eliza Business School for the Residential General Management Program. Nick also obtained a Cert IV Frontline Management degree in Management from the Mt Eliza Business School. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Building and Leading Effective Teams from Columbia Business School in 2020.
