Shawn Thorne

Shawn Thorne is a partner and co-head of the product, data, and technology practice at True Platform. Previously, they were the founder of Manufacturing Disruption, a website dedicated to exploring technology, venture capital, and startups in advanced manufacturing and materials. Shawn also served as associate director of power and energy/functional materials at the Office of Naval Research Global from 2008 to 2014. Shawn Thorne received their bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from UC Berkeley in 2003 and their master's degree in mechanical engineering from UC Berkeley in 2008.

Shawn Thorne began their educational career by obtaining a B.A. in Physics from Boston University. Shawn then pursued a M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Afterwards, they obtained a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from UC Berkeley as well. Finally, they completed their education with a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from the London Business School.

Shawn Thorne reports to Joe Riggione, Co-CEO. They are on a team with Phil Diamond - Partner, Cosmo Lush - Partner, and David Forsyth - Partner.
