David Sigmon's education history includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology from The Johns Hopkins University, which they obtained from 2006 to 2010. David then pursued their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, completing it from 2012 to 2016. Following this, they attended the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education from 2018 to 2020, where they obtained a Master's of Medical Education degree focused on Medical Education.

Continuing their education, David Sigmon joined the University of Illinois Chicago from 2016 to 2023, where they pursued a Surgical Residency in the General Surgery Residency Program.

In addition to their academic achievements, David Sigmon has obtained several certifications. In 2019, they became Therapy Dog International Certified through THERAPY DOGS INTERNATIONAL. Also in 2019, they became a Minister through OPEN MINISTRY CHURCH INC. In 2016, they acquired certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Experienced Provider (ACLS) and Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS), both from the American Heart Association. In 2017, they achieved the certification of Advanced Trauma Life Support from the American College of Surgeons. David also holds an Illinois Temporary Medical License from the State of Illinois, which they obtained in 2016.
