Edel O'Connell has over 17 years of work experience. Edel began their career in 2003 as a General Reporter at Kingdom Newspaper. In 2006, they moved to the Evening Echo newspaper as a Health Editor. In 2010, they worked as a News Reporter at the Irish Independent, and also as a Ghost Writer at Gill & McMillan. In 2013, they joined Fuzion Communications as a Senior Account Director, responsible for running effective PR strategies, writing marketing communications, devising public relations strategies, and managing press queries, stakeholder meetings, and crisis PR strategies. In 2014, they worked as a Communications Manager at Alzheimer's Society and as a Content Editor/Communications Manager and Editor in Chief at TrustElevate.com. Since 2016, they have been the Head of Communications and Marketing at Rehab Group.

Edel O'Connell has three educational qualifications. From 1994 to 1997, they completed a Bachelor of Arts in English History at University College Cork. Edel then went on to do a Masters (Hons) in English from 1994 to 2002 at the same institution. In 1997-1998, they also obtained a Diploma in Journalism from the Editorial Centre London.
