Andy Cottrell has a long and varied work experience. Andy began their career in 1991 as a Software Engineer at THORN Security Ltd. In 1993, they moved to Uxbridge College as Head of Engineering Department. In 1997, they joined Phoenix Technologies as Senior Director Systems Architecture/Security Products. In 2005, they became the CTO at TriCipher, Inc. In 2008, they joined The Security Consortium as Chief Scientist & Board Member. In 2010, they became a Board Member at The eRISK Industry Safety Community and University of Birmingham Foundation, as well as CEO at Truvantis, Inc. In 2011, they joined ExoIS as a Technical Advisory Board Member. Most recently, in 2019, they joined Mission Chamber Orchestra of San Jose as a Board Member.
Andy Cottrell began their education in 1976 at Filton High School, and completed their studies there in 1984. Andy then went on to the University of Birmingham, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical & Electronic Engineering between 1986 and 1989. After that, they completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Engineering at City, University of London in 1990. In 2011, they obtained a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification from ISACA.
