Markus Zimmermann

Markus Zimmermann is a distinguished academic and industry professional with extensive experience in mechanical engineering. Since November 2017, Markus has served as Lehrstuhlinhaber at the Technical University of Munich and as Head of the LPL - Laboratory for Product Development and Lightweight Design. Prior to this role, Markus worked at BMW Group from February 2005 to November 2017 as Entwicklungsingenieur, focusing on vehicle body, crash, vehicle dynamics, and multidisciplinary projects. Markus holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, alongside a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Michigan, and a Diplom-Ingenieur in Physikalische Ingenieurwissenschaft from Technische Universität Berlin. Additionally, Markus completed studies at École Polytechnique and obtained the Abitur from Christianeum.
