Peter Mayr

Peter Mayr is the Department Head of Materials Engineering at TUM School of Engineering and Design since October 2021 and serves as a Professor of Materials Engineering of Additive Manufacturing at Technische Universität München from September 2019. Previously, Peter Mayr held the position of Professor of Welding Engineering at Chemnitz University of Technology from April 2011 to August 2019. Peter Mayr's research experience includes roles as a Visiting Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in April 2018 and September 2009 to September 2010, working with prominent research groups on the joining of metals and alloys. Prior academic appointments include Assistant Professor at Graz University of Technology from 2004 to April 2011. Peter Mayr earned a PhD in Technical Sciences and an International Welding Engineer degree from Technische Universität Graz, along with a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution.
