Sonja Dames

Sonja Dames currently serves as the Managing Director of the Plant Technology Center at the Technical University of Munich, a role commenced in April 2024, focusing on providing research infrastructure and expertise in plant science. Prior to this, Dames held the position of Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer at the Hausdorff Center for Mathematics at the University of Bonn from August 2019 to March 2024, where a broad vision of mathematics was emphasized. Dames also managed the DFG Cluster of Excellence "Universe" at Technische Universität München from January 2010 to July 2019 while previously engaging in biomolecular NMR spectroscopy research, including a co-appointment at the Helmholtz Institute. Early career experience includes postdoctoral research positions at the University of Basel and the Scripps Research Institute, as well as a nursing assistant role at Kreiskrankenhaus Müllheim. Dames holds a Ph.D. in Biophysics from the University of Basel and a Diplom in Biochemistry from the University of Bayreuth.
