The Tufenkian Foundation was founded in 1999 to address Armenia’s most pressing social, economic, cultural, and environmental challenges. Its founder, entrepreneur James Tufenkian, had already spent over a decade leveraging his business ventures to advance social justice—first in Nepal, and later in Armenia. Recognizing that these challenges required more than market solutions alone, the Foundation was established to create innovative approaches capable of making a lasting impact in Armenian communities.

For over 25 years, the Tufenkian Foundation has worked to build a just, democratic, and prosperous Armenia. By combining social concern, bold thinking, and strategic entrepreneurial insight, the Foundation has tangibly strengthened Armenia’s economy and civil society.
