John Bailey

John Bailey is an Associate Director and national sustainability lead focused on higher education and regional sustainability in the South West, working at Turner & Townsend. They have played pivotal roles in multiple universities, including serving as Director of Estates & Sustainability at Plymouth Marjon University, where they achieved a 52% carbon reduction and developed a comprehensive Campus Development Plan. Previously, as Head of Sustainability at the University of London, John led significant sustainability initiatives, including a £1 million annual savings and a substantial increase in recycling rates. They have contributed to various publications and initiatives within the sustainability sector and continue to share best practices across educational institutions. John also serves as a Non-Executive Director for Plymouth Energy Community Trust, emphasizing local engagement in zero carbon energy systems.
