Gregory George

Director at Turtle Conservancy

Greg has served on the Board of Directors of the Turtle Conservancy since its inception. Greg has spent much of his career as a zoo and aquarium herpetologist and is the founder of Gregory George Designs, LLC. a company that specializes in the design and fabrication of naturalistic habitats for amphibians, reptiles, fish, and mammals. Greg was an integral part in designing and constructing many of the enclosures and habitats at Turtle Conservancy’s captive breeding center, the Behler Chelonian Center. Greg’s unique gift is his ability to use his experience as a field herpetologist as a guide when producing captive environments, including details such as accurate geological formations, sedimentation, artifacts and natural plantings.

Greg has 30+ years of experience as a herpetologist, naturalist and conservationist, including 15 years as a zookeeper working with reptiles.

The Turtle Conservancy is a nonprofit scientific and educational organization "for the conservation of turtles and tortoises around the world." Since 2005 the Conservancy has supported a highly successful breeding program at the Behler Chelonian Center along with many in situ research projects, adding to knowledge of chelonians.
