Peter Paul van Dijk

Director, Field Conservation Programs

Peter Paul van Dijk is an experienced conservationist currently serving as the Director of Field Conservation Programs at Turtle Conservancy since July 2025. From July 2015 to July 2025, Peter Paul held the position of Director for the Turtle Conservation Program at Global Wildlife Conservation. Prior to this, from October 2004 to June 2015, Peter Paul directed the Tortoise & Freshwater Turtle Conservation Program at Conservation International. Peter Paul also worked as a freelance consultant at HerpConsult from September 2002 to October 2004, focusing on turtle conservation measures and CITES regulations. Peter Paul's earlier experience includes a role as Senior Program Officer with TRAFFIC Southeast Asia (WWF Malaysia) from December 1999 to August 2002, where research and conservation action addressed wildlife trade issues in Southeast Asia. Peter Paul's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Galway and a Research Associate degree in Zoology from Chulalongkorn University.
