João Martins has four years of work experience. João started in 2014 with a role as a Google Summer of Code participant, where they worked on creating an initializer for the VSM in Sirius. In 2015, they continued their participation in Google Summer of Code, developing the GS Feature Monitor, an open-source tool for capturing and storing WMS Map Request metadata. From 2016 to 2017, Martins worked as a software developer at Hexastep S.A., contributing to the CARTS project, which focused on smart farming and real-time spraying equipment. Since 2018, they have been working as a software engineer at Two Impulse.

João Martins obtained a Licentiate degree in Engenharia de Computação from the University of Évora in 2010. In terms of additional certifications, they completed the "Agile with Atlassian Jira" course from Coursera in November 2020, the "AI For Everyone" course from Coursera in August 2020, the "Go (Golang): The Complete Bootcamp" course from Udemy in June 2020, the "Agile Scrum Course: Scrum Fundamentals | Scrum Certification" course from Udemy in May 2019, and the "Miracles of Human Language: An Introduction to Linguistics" course from Coursera in January 2019.
