Rusty started their career as a software developer at Plains Cotton Cooperative Association, where they worked for three years. Rusty then moved to Tyler Technologies, where they have been working for the past 12 years. Rusty is currently the President of the Courts & Justice Division at Tyler Technologies.

Rusty Smith has a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) from Texas Tech University - Rawls College of Business in Management Information Systems and a PLD21 from Harvard Business School Executive Education.
