Tylorstown Welfare Hall is a much-loved Grade II listed building at the heart of the Rhondda Fach Valley. Built by the miners for their community, it has served generations as a social, cultural and educational hub — and continues to do so today.

We are embarking on an ambitious £6.4 million refurbishment project that will see this iconic landmark fully restored and reimagined for the 21st century. Supported by major funders including the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project will return the Hall to its original 1930s character — complete with cinema, stage, games rooms, and flexible community spaces — while ensuring it remains a vibrant, sustainable venue for years to come.

Our vision is to honour the Hall’s proud heritage while expanding its role as a centre for wellbeing, learning, arts, and youth engagement. This transformation will safeguard a key piece of Rhondda’s history and secure its future as a place where people come together, share experiences, and build stronger communities.
