Robert Ahern serves as the Senior Director for WTO Agricultural Affairs at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative since February 2020, previously holding the position of Director for WTO Agricultural Affairs. Prior to this role, Ahern was the Manager of Agricultural Health, Food Safety and Food Quality at IICA from August 2013 to February 2020, where responsibilities included managing programs with an annual budget of approximately $5,000,000 to enhance animal health and food safety systems across 34 Member Countries in the Americas. Earlier experience includes serving as a Trade Specialist and an Entomologist/Risk Analyst at USDA-APHIS, focusing on international Sanitary and Phytosanitary trade issues and providing scientific support for Pest Risk Assessments. Ahern holds a PhD in Entomology from the University of Maryland, a Master's in Entomology from the University of Wyoming, and a Bachelor's in Zoology/Animal Biology from Miami University.
