James Olson is the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia, a position they have held since 2018. Previously, they served as Interim Dean of the same faculty and as Associate Dean for Research and Industrial Partnerships. James also worked as a Research Engineer at Paprican from 1995 to 1999 and was the Director of the UBC Pulp and Paper Centre between 2011 and 2013. They earned a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 1996.
