Jeff Clune

Jeff Clune is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of British Columbia and serves as a Canada CIFAR AI Chair and Faculty Member at the Vector Institute. Clune has held roles as a Senior Research Advisor at DeepMind since 2023 and was a Research Team Leader at OpenAI from 2020 to 2022. They previously worked as a Professor at the University of Wyoming from 2013 to 2020 and were a Visiting Scientist and Postdoctoral Fellow at Cornell University from 2010 to 2012. Clune earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science and a Master's in Philosophy from Michigan State University, where they studied from 2003 to 2010.
